Biography[]
Talon Karrde is a smuggler in the employ of Jorj Car'das, part of his fleet of Entrepreneurs. He works in a dangerous arm of the operation and his crew has a high turnover rate. Talon keeps things on a need-to-know basis.
Talon first comes into contact with the Mynock crew when he brings Tryst and Lyn on his ship, the Wild Karrde, to do an assigned job from Jorj Car'das. He tries to kiss Lyn's hand but is rebuffed.[1]
Physical Appearance[]
Talon is a somewhat scrawny-looking but tanned 15-year-old boy. He wears his long black hair in a ponytail and has the faint shadow of what one day will be a beard. He has a clever look about his face. When he first meets the Mynock crew on Phindar, Talon is dressed in finery with a blue cape and a flowing white shirt.[1]
The Wild Karrde[]
Talon's ship was specially designed to suit his needs: traveling to the most exotic locations in the universe but still retaining a sense of style. He considers it the ultimate smuggling ship. It is three or four times larger than the Mynock, and looks like a freighter on the outside.
The Wild Karrde is an unusually finished ship. The floors are marble (which is not as rare in this universe, but still difficult and expensive to get onto a spaceship).
The hallways are curved, with the doors neatly flushed; it is hard to see the doors before they open- the more crucial a door is, the less visible it is. Several crewmembers admit not being able to find their room their first night on the ship.[2] The kitchen is open to the rest of the ship and the bathroom doors are rimmed in silver, but the control room and cargo bay doors are indistinguishable from the walls. This is intended to make contraband harder to find.
The sitting room, where Talon's crew plans missions, has an artificial fire place, leather couches, and animal fur carpeting. The couches look worn as if people have slept on them, unable to find their rooms.
The main hall is called the 'Great Hall' by the crew, and contains an 18th century-esque portrait of Talon Karrde holding a vornskr puppy over the artificial fireplace.[3]
The control room is designed like the rest of the ship, with style over function. Only the most necessary buttons are visible; everything else is hidden behind smooth panels. The pilot's chair is made of cured Corinthian bantha belly leather.[1]
- Talon Karrde additionally owned the Ante, which was destroyed Trystan Valentine during the Phindar Arc. The Ante was the fastest sub-light ship in the Car'das fleet. It was a small fighter-style, a long body with wings and two round engines near the base.
